Melanie | Scoliosis Patient

Melanie, 17, was born with perinatal asphyxia. Two days after birth, she began to have frequent seizures. She walked until she was three and a half years old, and with the unconditional support of her mother, she has attended therapy and is improving her condition.
During the pandemic, her mother began to notice that when her daughter sat down, her right side appeared "more prominent." Upon taking her to a neurologist, she was referred to an orthopedist who confirmed that her daughter had scoliosis and prescribed a brace to correct the spinal curvature. However, at the second appointment with the orthopedist, it was noted that the scoliosis was progressing, and she was referred here to the Ruth Paz Foundation.
Her mother told us, “I came to make an appointment with her and honestly, I have no complaints. The care is exceptional, incomparable. Nowhere else have we received such personalized attention, and they followed up with me until this point. I am truly grateful, first to Jehovah and second to them for being willing to help us.”
Melanie and her mother Cecilia, visited us from Cortés so that their little daughter's life could be transformed through her scoliosis surgery.
“I thought there were no other people with my daughter’s diagnosis, I realized how many more people there were in more precarious situations than my daughter’s when I came to the Foundation and started to look around, being here and listening to the testimonies of the people who have had the opportunity to be operated on and have changed their lives because it is not easy to live with scoliosis.”
