Ashly Mejía | Scoliosis Medical Brigade | 2023

Ashly Mejía’s mother shares a little of her daughter’s story as an Orthopedics patient at Hospital Ruth Paz.
At 15, Ashly was diagnosed with scoliosis. However, by the time she was 18, the condition had progressed significantly, and her symptoms had become more severe.
Coming from Santa Rosa de Copán with hope that her life could change, they went to a consultation with Dr. Tomás Minueza, who told them about the medical brigades held every month at Fundación Ruth Paz.
“We came to the appointments a couple of times, and we were told that there were other patients with more serious conditions who needed to be treated first. We understood the situation, but as parents, you always want to see your children well,” her mother, who has accompanied her throughout the process, tells us.
Finally, Ashly had the opportunity to receive the care she needed and can now look forward to new experiences in her life and with her family.
We continue transforming lives alongside our friends and volunteers.
